Bangalore: Hitachi Data systems (HDS) has come up with a 3D scaling storage platform to ensure agility and cost effectiveness for the virtualized data centers. With 2.5 inch SAS disk drives and high density storage, the company claims it to be first in the industry to provide 3D scaling platform.
Combined with the command suite V7, the virtual storage platform from Hitachi is aimed at optimizing system performance by ensuring lesser power consumption and a flexible server environment. The 3D platform will consume 30 percent less power compared to the other high end storage platforms in the market.
The company is working closely with SAP, Oracle, VMware, Microsoft, Cisco, Intel and Brocade for providing applications for the virtual storage system. "There is a massive amount of data to be managed and the 3D storage platform can handle more data and has the capability to store it dynamically," said Phil Gann, APAC Director, Solutions Products and Services Group.
The dynamic provisioning of data will facilitate prioritization of data in the storage platform. The most important data would be stacked at the top level followed by other data based on their order of importance.
The 3D scaling platform can 'scale up' which means that the performance, capacity and connectivity can be dynamically clubbed in to a single unit without disruption. It can even 'scale out' which means that it can build out the storage system by combining multiple units into a single logical system with shared resources and finally it can 'scale deep' meaning that the platform can add value to heterogeneous storage.
The 3D platform is aimed at the large scale enterprises that are looking forward to a virtualized, automated, cloud ready and sustainable server environment.
