Chrome as a hit and Buzz as a miss
As Google entered the browser wars in 2008 with the open source Chrome. Company promised improved speed and responsiveness compared to rivals like Mozilla's Firefox and Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Chrome celebrated its third birthday by capturing 15.51 percent of the global browser market. Chrome also spearheaded the concept of a fast (and automatic) release cycle eventually adopted by Firefox. Google is preparing a version of Chrome for Android.
Google's Buzz in February 2010 added a "news feed" feature to Gmail and was incorporated into Google's mobile offering on Android phones and the iPhone. Google soon tweaked Buzz to give user more control over their settings. This did not appease all users, Buzz is still around, but Google's social efforts have largely switched over to its Google+ social network, which recently opened to the public.
