Technology Duds of Past and Present
4. Microsoft Bob
BOB got buried very early, was the center of technology humor and was nothing short of unmitigated disaster. Advertised in 1995 with a gung ho, this Microsoft released, software program called "Bob" was designed to replace the desktop of Windows 3.1 and 95 with an interface designed mainly for novice users. Priced high at $100, not as compatible as Macintosh and component configuration not matching the time were some of the reasons why BOB was rolled back.
3. Internet Currency
Virtual money as a substitute to the real money to do online transactions such as purchase of any product was faced by a sharp negative response from the consumers as they preferred Credit cards or real money for merchandising. InternetCash.com, Flooz.com and Beenz.com who implemented internet currency closed down in August 2001 after facing serious accusations from consumers.
