TCS IT Wiz to be held in Bangalore on July 29
Bangalore: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a major information technology (IT) services, business solutions and outsourcing firm, has announced TCS IT Wiz 2009 technology quiz for schools , which would commence in Bangalore on July 29, 2009. This year the Bangalore edition of the TCS IT Wiz will be held at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall. It is open to school students studying in classes 8 to 12 (including PU students). There is no entry fee, but only the first 500 registered teams will be allowed to participate. Each institution is allowed to send eight teams (two-members per team) to participate. The 2009 TCS IT Wiz winners will be awarded with laptops and the runners will be rewarded with cameras and digital photo frames. Six finalists will also receive prizes from TCS ranging from backpacks, watches to MP3 players. Last year, in Bangalore over 1,250 students took part in the annual TCS IT Wiz. Started in 1999, TCS IT Wiz is one of India's largest technology quiz for schools that strives to enhance IT awareness among students, keeping them updated on the latest developments in the world of IT as it plays an increasing role in today's economy and society. Commenting on the event, S Ramadorai, CEO and MD of TCS said, "It is our aim to get school students excited about information technology and the possibilities that it can open up for young, inquisitive minds brimming with energy and passion."
