Bangalore: Tata Indicom has launched a new offering in its CDMA services for prepaid customers across the country. The "Pay Per Call" offering enables the users to make calls regardless of the time durations. With the local call rates at Re.1 and STD calls at
3, the customers will have to pay a fixed charge per call, which is not applicable on the call duration.
The customers can make calls at these fixed rates to all different mobile services. SMS service to both local and national is charged at 50 paise. ISD calls, roaming charges and value added services will be charged as per the usual rates.
"While a customer typically pays one paise, or 30 paise, or 50 paise, or Re.1 as call rates per second or per minute, depending on the tariff plan they have chosen with various telecom service providers, they will now be charged a flat rate of Re.1 for any local call, and
3 for any STD call, regardless of the call duration," said Sanjeev Khera, Regional Head, South and COO, Karnataka Circle, Tata Teleservices.
With this introduction, Tata Teleservices is bidding on the volume of the customers, as 80 percent of its 37 million CDMA connections are prepaid customers. The service will be charged at Re.1 per day for availing the tariff options. The existing customers can avail the service at
96 and the new customers can avail at
99 which will be valid for 10 years.
"It significantly reduces customer confusion arising out complex rate plans, day-night charges and other fine print. It gives telecom consumers freedom to talk to their heart's content without any hassles they face on the charging front," said Khera.
For the first 15 days of the connection, the user will be monitored by the company for avoiding misuse of the service through their Call Detail Report (CDR).
