Bangalore: Tata Teleservices has again knocked the doors of the Department of Telecom (DoT) seeking approval to launch its GSM service in Delhi immediately. Tata Teleservices was considered for the GSM spectrum under dual technology clause in Delhi, but Reliance Communications (RCom) and Swan Telecom were awarded the spectrum. The company has been denied to launch its GSM services in spite of having the infrastructure in place. Delhi is considered to be a key telecom circle. "We have knocked at DoT and will keep doing it. We are very good at pressing the doorbells and will keep on doing till we are heard. We have not heard from DoT, as we had paid the license fee more than year ago," said Anil Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Teleservices. "Here is a company which has delivered results on the ground, wherever we have been given GSM spectrum, the services are being launched in all circles one after another," he said. Sardana informed that the company has now a subscriber base of over five million in the GSM space in eight circles after launching operations two months ago. It is also in plans to launch the service in some more districts, as the company is waiting to get frequency. Tata entered the GSM sphere after the government approved the dual technology policy, under which a service provider can offer both GSM and CDMA services on the same license.
