Siliconindia organizes WebApps 2010

Bangalore: The motive behind Siliconindia's WebApps 2010 was to bring together experts in all areas of web technology, including designing, developing and deploying web applications. It was a technical conference, held at the Nimhans Convention Center, Bangalore on May 15, for the techies from the field of web technologies providing them the opportunity to get hands-on technical training and gain new skills. In the inaugural key note, Bharat Vijay, Co-founder at BolTell spoke about the new trends in the Web space and new business models. According to him, everyday, a new technology is coming up with a new trend. Thus, the field of technology is changing every other day. He spoke about the changing trends in technology by mentioning about his own personal journey. "Rather than talking about today's trend, I'll take you through my own journey, which will help you to evaluate trends", said Vijay. Satyadeep Musuvathy, Architect, Engineering - Search Advertising, Yahoo! Bangalore, spoke about the lessons in developing Web applications. After his presentation, the participants were told about the tools that they need to have by Prasanna Jaganathan, Director - Engineering, OrangeScape. While Prerana Nayak, Associate Director, Product Development, Rediff.com, spoke about the guidelines for web development, the participants had a clear insight to eCommerce web app architecture and scalability through the presentation of Rajesh Ramachandran, GM - Head of IPC, eBay India Product Center. Developing secure and high performance web applications, engineering for Web applications and changing scenario of the IT industry are the other issues discussed in the conference, where speakers like Vishnu Patankar, Senior Manager - Software Development, Amazon India, Satheesan Varier, Director, OSRDG and Sivakumar Rajendran, CTO, Appnomic Systems spoke on the related issues. The web designer track started with an interesting presentation by Deepak Pakhare, Senior Interaction Designer II, UED (User Experience Design), Yahoo! Bangalore, who emphasized on five essential skills for every web designer. After this presentation, Dr. Jai Ganesh, who is a Principal Research Scientist in Infosys, gave an informative lecture on accessibility in web design. It was followed by the presentation about interaction design for internet applications in which, Harish Sivaramakrishnan, Computer Scientist and Evangelist in Adobe Systems India, mesmerized the participants with his unique style of presentation. After the lunch break, the session started with the presentation of Uday M Shankar, Principal Engineer, Prototyping, Yahoo! Bangalore, on blending usability testing with interface design, prototyping and rapid iteration. The web designer track marked its ending with the presentation of Dasharatham Bitla, Founder and CEO of Bitla Software, on HTML5. With over 800 participants from the industry, WebApps 2010 provided an influential platform for information exchange, honest discussion and collaborative problem solving.
