New Delhi: The BlackBerry mobile devices maker Research in Motion (RIM) which is a Canadian Saturday has announced that it has come out with BlackBerry Messenger Services and is trying to make available the lawful access to the Indian government. "RIM confirms that it is fully cooperating with the government of India and is enabling carriers in India to be able to provide the same degree of lawful access to consumer data services, including BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), that occurs with respect to other consumer products and services offered by other companies, including RIM's competitors," the company said in a statement. Minister of State for Communication Sachin Pilot stated that to interrupt and examine the communication made through BlackBerry Messenger Service and enterprise services in readable format is not possible for the security agencies. The government is along with RIM is trying to find out a solution for the interruption and examining of messenger chat and enterprise email using BlackBerry phone. "Voice, SMS and individual email communication can be intercepted and monitored by security agencies in readable format. However, security agencies are not able to intercept and monitor the communication made through BlackBerry messenger and enterprise services in readable format," Pilot said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha. Time has been given to BlackBerry by the government till January 2011 so as to create lawful interruption facilities with all the possible operators providing the service. This step has been taken to get over the deadlocked issue which gave place to zero negotiations between the government and RIM as according to RIM, there is no master key provided in the system that would permit it or any other third party an access to the encrypted company detail.
