RIM recalls 1,000 Playbooks; under criticism radar again

Bangalore: RIM which recently launched its Blackberry Playbook is under criticism radar again after it had to recall its 1,000 Playbooks which were complained to have faulty operating systems. The faulty devices came into picture after Engadget blog reported that, a faulty batch of PlayBooks were shipped to Staples Inc company.
In a statement RIM said that it is working towards fixing the affected devices. However, it announced that any customer who received a Playbook and is unable to properly load software upon initial set-up, they can contact RIM for assistance.
Since the day of its launch, Playbook has not gained any positive reviews. Although RIM released new set applications and features for its Playbook, it hardly caught eyeballs and gadget frenzy hands. The news is the latest setback for RIM, which recently issued a first-quarter profit warning, citing lower-than-expected BlackBerry sales.
Since RIM has not yet reported how many Playbooks have been sold, it is a difficult to analyze how many of them were defective. Although the company has promised that it will reveal the numbers in the month of June.
RIM had sure planned to give the best dish for their hungry consumers but only ended up with a half baked product. RIM's stock breached its 52-week low in Toronto trading and is hovering just above its 52-week low on the Nasdaq Stock Market, finishing Friday at $43.24 a share on Nasdaq.
