Bangalore: The stage is set for the BlackBerry DEVCON 2010 slated to start on September 27 in San Francisco. The four day developer community event by BlackBerry makers Research In Motion (RIM) will see key RIM officials make important announcements on the future products and developments of the firm. The official content page of the event, aptly termed Something for Everyone, promises lots of opportunities with strategic breakout sessions, access to the Hands-on Labs, among many others. RIM is expected to unveil a new social-apps platform at the event that will expand the device-to-device communications of BlackBerry Messenger to other apps. The last day of the conference is dedicated to the developers. Another point of focus of the event will be the new BlackBerry 6 OS. RIM will try and woo developers to create apps for the new OS. In the recent past, RIM gathered a lot of negative press in countries like India and the Middle East (UAE) regarding access to its mail service. With the BlackBerry DEVCON, we hope RIM is planning to wash that all and garner a revamped image of a big player in the smartphone arena. We expect RIM to announce some new phones at the event as well. For four days, the world will see what RIM has in store for it and how RIM is all set to cash on the event.
