Bangalore: Microsoft has spread its tentacles across Desktop, server and mobile software market to a considerable proportion. But still, it has failed to fully impress the mobile market. This decade saw the unprecedented rise of competitors such as Linux and Mac in the software market. This is enough to trigger the panic button for Microsoft; making it aware of the harsh reality of survival in the coming decades. Many hardware manufacturers such as HP had announced the launch of its own OS, the Web OS. Such trends could only threaten the Microsoft further.
Mac OS X
Microsoft has already launched its application store software to rival that of the Apple Mac OS's App store. Although this latest development has placed the Microsoft in a level playing field in the OS market, the Microsoft's survival solely rests on its latest software and a stable interface that is more resilient than the present versions of the windows operating systems. The Mac has been a constant threat that could cash in on the failure of Microsoft products, although the Apple maintains that if focuses on premium customers.
