New Delhi: Computer security solutions firm PC Tools today launched the latest versions of its anti-virus and Internet safety software products, with which it hopes to capture a sizeable share of the Indian market. "We have been witnessing tremendous growth in India with the total number of Internet users growing to 71 million.
With this growth emerges a greater need to ensure online safety, which gives us a bigger market to play in," PC Tools Director (Product Management) Shafi Shanavas said. The new products aim to provide simple, effective and affordable solutions, he added.
He, however, declined to comment on the market share that the company hoped to garner. PC Tools'' 2011 performance and protection portfolio includes PC Tools Spyware Doctor, PC Tools Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus and PC Tools Internet Security, PC Tools Registry Mechanic and PC Tools Performance Toolkit.
The price of the various products ranges from Rs 704-Rs 1,750. The new products are capable of real-time scans and threat remediation without impacting the user''s work.
PC Tools was acquired by Nasdaq-listed Symantec, but it continues to operate separately. Asked about competition from Symantec and other players, PC Tools Director (Worldwide Sales) Robert Oostergetel said, "We have a strong line of products that can compete with any other product in the market.
As far as Symantec is concerned, Norton (Symantec''s product) is placed in a premium price category, while we are in the mid to low-range." PTI SR ARV.
