Netgear and Ericsson to launch MBRN3300E 3G Wireless Router

Bangalore: Netgear has collaborated with Ericsson to slide the covers of a new mobile router that integrates internal 3G HSPA Radio, 802.11n Wireless and 10/100LAN. The companies launched the new Netgear MBRN3300E 3G Mobile Broadband router, reports Techshout.com. The innovative router distinctly blends in 3G WAN with 802.11n wireless and Ethernet LAN. It also boasts of 270Mbps on the wireless LAN side along with a full-featured firewall. Employing the Ericsson 3G mobile broadband technology, the router should be a cost-efficient solution for Internet access in both home and office settings. "We are thrilled to cooperate with Ericsson, the global leader in 3G mobile broadband network technology," remarked Michael Clegg, Vice President and General Manager of the Netgear Service Provider Business Unit. "This collaboration furthers our position with mobile operators, and the resulting mobile platform can be migrated to higher speeds and enabled with added features going forward. It is a clear win-win partnership." Mats Norin, vice president of Mobile Broadband Modules at Ericsson, further added, "Mobile broadband connectivity over HSPA in routers opens up new opportunities in yet-untapped home, SOHO and semi-nomadic user scenarios. We are excited to deliver mobile broadband connectivity to a new segment, home network routers for NETGEAR." The new router sports a combination of features. These include functions like Live Parental Controls and content filtering, Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI), VPN pass-through and Denial of Service protection along with Automatic Quality of Service (QoS) for reliable video, voice and gaming. Boasting of Guest networks capability, users are enabled to set up multiple wireless networks within a home or small business. Incorporated with a broadband usage meter, it further ensures accurate measurement of download Internet traffic along with customized alerts. A touch of a button on the Push 'N' Connect device complemented by Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) enables secure connections. There's also an on/off switch for power and 3G/Wi-Fi, allowing users to save energy. Users can also take advantage of the optional car power charger and a battery pack for complete mobile usage. The MBRN3300E router is expected to be displayed in the Ericsson pavilion by Netgear during the GSMA Mobile World Congress trade show in Barcelona February 15-18, 2010.
