Mystery of disappeared Facebook accounts continues

Bangalore: Few Facebook accounts have mysteriously disappeared for almost seven days now. Many account holders are not able to access Facebook and their names have been deleted from their friends list as well. This is creating concern among many account holders that Facebook has deleted their account. "My account has now been held hostage for a week," a reader wrote to CNET. "Some of my friends think that I have deleted (my profile) or even blocked them...None of my friends or family can see my profile or even find it in search. It's as if I simply deleted my account or blocked all of them from seeing it without even a word."
Even though the number of people that are affected is very small, it is raising many questions among Facebook's more than 300 million account holders. Facebook offers free account so many might say that customer's can't complain for something that they don't pay. But Facebook has become a (addictive) platform for easy communication and entertainment.
Facebook has assured the troubled account holders that their account is not deleted and company is working on the problem. Facebook has still not mentioned the reason for the accounts to disappear and what exactly is taking the company so long to solve the problem. Meanwhile, the users can't do anything more than to wait and hope that their accounts are still alive.
