Mozilla launches a directory for web tools
Bangalore: Mozilla has launched a new directory, which contains several web applications and tools for developers to use. "We've come to the opinion that in addition to creating new tools, one of the best things we could do is help developers understand the broad universe of tools that already exist and expose them to some of the fantastic and amazing work that's being done," said Ben Galbraith, Co-Director of Developer Tools at Mozilla in his blog. With the help of this launch, the company aims to provide developers with a list of a broader range of tools that is available. Till now, there were only few tools that were listed, but now the company has created a data entry form for developers to submit their own applications. After submitting the applications, Mozilla will review the applications and then the application would go live. This web tools directory will only work on modern browsers like Safari, Chrome, Opera, Firefox and would support both browsers without canvas support and screen reader support. The blog also said that in coming days additional features like ranking, commenting on the tools, better searching tools will be added too. "We're looking forward to evolving the directory and working with the web community to make it a vibrant resource for discovering and tracking the web's amazing tools universe," Galbraith said.
