Bangalore: Opera has updated its mobile web browser, the Opera Mini, which is a widely used mobile browser in the world. The updated version Opera Mini 5.1 follows Opera Mini 5 that was released for Java phones last September. At present, the Opera browser is compatible with around 3000 mobile handsets and has more than 61 million users.
With the new Opera Mini 5.1, one can browse on the phones having limited memory. The update comprises of a new browser skin. This allows you to open more pages at the same time and scroll through pages at a much faster scale. There is also an overall improvisation made to the whole browsing experience.
The new version of the browser is specially proposed for the Nokia S40 based feature phones that have limited memory. Some of these phones include Nokia 5130 XpressMusic, Nokia 6300 and Nokia 2700 handsets. The Opera Mini 5.1 is also optimized for phone models having small display screens such as the Sony Ericsson K550i and Sony Ericsson W810i.
However, the high end mobile phone users may not go for the upgradation to Opera Mini 5.1.
"The goal with Opera Mini is to make the Web available to anyone, anywhere, regardless of where they come from or the handset they have," said Lars Boilesen, CEO, Opera Software.
