Internet service providers are already, according to a report on Biztech2.com, seeking out the offloading of traffic to fixed or Wi-Fi networks, since the demand for mobile internet is growing at an alarming rate. 2011 had 11 percent of monthly total mobile data traffic offloaded. By 2016, this percentage is expected to double. If offloading was not a considered option, global mobile data traffic CAGR for 2011-2016 would be 84 percent instead of the 78 percent it is now.

The increment of traffic that is expected in the field of mobile internet between 2015 and 2016 alone is approximately three times the expected size of the entirety of 2012’s mobile internet.
