Bangalore: Indian IT services firm, Infosys Technologies has opened a new datacenter in Melbourne, Australia, according to a report by ZDNet Australia. According to the report, the Victorian Government's ICT Minister John Lenders revealed that the company has already hired 90 of the 100 employees it was aiming to hire by next month. "We are investing A$ 8 Million in a datacenter to support the growing client demand for our range of cloud services across HR, procurement and other functions," says Jacqueline Korhonen, CEO and Managing Director at Infosys Australia. "Infosys has won substantial contracts from Victorian headquartered businesses that are looking to be more competitive in an increasingly global marketplace." Last June, Infosys, along with EDS had signed a five year $450 million application development and maintenance deal with Australian telecom operator Telstra. Prior to that, the company launched in April a consulting and systems integration practice covering Australia and New Zealand.
