Bangalore: The growth of networking technologies, new open standards and unified communications has increased the skill requirement of IT professionals. Bridging this increased gap is a major challenge. With an aim of preparing the professionals and the students to advance their knowledge in the delivery of next generation networks, HP in partnership with International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT- Bangalore) has launched the HP Network University.
Starting from the acquisition of 3Com, HP is dramatically expanding its networking portfolio and sales. In the company's fiscal fourth quarter networking revenue grew 227 percent with the former 3Com portfolio included. Even without the new offerings, sales grew 50 percent from a year earlier. Network University can be said as one of HP?s primary initiative to meet the challenging requirement of the industry.
Network University will provide the tools, methodologies and labs to teach the latest standards in networking solutions for both students and the employees. Spread over three to six months, the course will cover basic to advanced levels of networking, network security, consulting and converged infrastructure. "Organizations are increasingly network dependent as they develop new ways to engage their customers, employees and partners. This brings a challenge as well as an opportunity for the IT community," said Neelam Dhawan, Managing Director, HP India.
From home to large enterprises today networking has taken a vital role. Especially the impatience of the younger generation in infrastructural delay has been a blessing for the growth of networking. The move from branch customer to bank customer can be the real example for the growth of networking. "Our association with HP will bring the best faculty, infrastructure and good industry academia relationship. It also add immense value to our education system and bridge the gap of training between employers and academic institutions," said Sadagopan, Director, IIIT - Bangalore.
HP has already put in an investment of $1 million to set up the lab and is prepared to invest more in the venture. The certification for all courses will be provided by Prometric.
