HDS unveils new NAS platform
Bangalore: Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), a storage solutions provider announced the availability of its latest Network Attached Storage (NAS) platform. The two new solutions - Hitachi NAS 3080 and 3090 - can provide better performance, scalability, consolidation and management for mid-range storage. HDS claims that by using the new platform, customers can achieve up to 30 percent Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) savings over competitive offerings available. Organizations are facing exponential growth of unstructured data, putting increased demands on their limited IT budgets. The organizations often consolidate file servers with NAS solutions that lack the scalability and performance and cause NAS proliferation. "Unlike other storage vendors, HDS combines storage management software, content archiving, and data discovery solutions in one integrated platform to minimize complexity and reduce storage costs," said Miki Sandorfi, Chief Strategist, File and Content Services at HDS. The new Hitachi NAS platform offers native intelligent tiering capability and is tightly integrated with the Hitachi Data Discovery Suite to enable customers to move data automatically among Fibre channel, SAS, SATA and archive tiers based on pre-set policies, search the content across storage silos and use the search results to trigger data movement. The entry Hitachi NAS 3080 model comes with one petabyte of capacity. The Hitachi NAS 3090 reaches two petabytes and supports 256 terabytes of file system. The new NAS platform is immediately available through HDS direct sales and channel partners.
