Google Wave fails to create any wave
Bangalore: After a year of its launch, the online software application product from Google, the Google Wave, is being discontinued. The reason cited is that the service had 'not seen the user adoption Google would have liked'. However, Google clarified its intention of maintaining the web site at least for the remainder of the year. It also added that as Google's open source, the data and technology will be made exportable to other services. Even though Wave had a devoted base, Google confessed that it was a 'radically different' form of dialog. It has served chiefly as a collaborative environment on the web with live but saved multi-person chat as well as content sharing and editing. One could communicate both on Android and iOS devices with the help of Wave. However, it struggled as it had to face competition from both IM and existing collaborative tools.
