Bangalore: Boosting its security features, Google Chrome has announced a new upgrade that will warn its users against malicious file downloads. The new feature will be integrated with Google Chrome and will display a warning if a user attempts to download a suspected malicious executable file. The new feature to defend any such attacks is the Safe browsing API, which checks a URL against a list of blacklist of known bad sites. This only warns the users about visiting specific websites but doesn't offer any protection against file downloads. It follows the same privacy policy currently in use by the Safe Browsing feature. While encountering a bad download, the users will be alerted with a message saying "This file appears to be malicious. Are you sure you want to continue?" and offers an option to 'discard' or 'save' the file. Google said the new update is an experimental feature that is available only to Chrome Development Channel for testing and announced that this will be rolled out to all users in the next stable release of Google Chrome.
