Bangalore: Fujitsu plans to launch Zero Client computers in India, which only requires LAN and power connection and does not require operating system, applications, local storage, processors, memory, fan or moving parts.
Embedded in the monitor will be Pano Logic's zero client technology, which is designed to connect end users to computing that is 100 percent centralized on the server. As a result, this means lower maintenance costs, roll-out costs and a longer life-span. The Zero Client simply establishes a connection to a virtual machine, so there is no need for workplace management. This makes the "total cost of ownership" significantly lower than even a Thin Client.
"We will launch the system, called Zero Client, by end of May. The system, based on the local area network, will use a company's servers and not need a central processing unit," Fujitsu India Chief Operating Officer Pallab Talukdar told Financial Chronicle.
More and more companies are turning to Cloud Computing and Fujitsu's innovative solution for entirely virtual clients takes present market approaches one step ahead, while remaining highly uncomplicated and cost effective. The Fujitsu Zero Client is the ideal terminal to start operating IT from the cloud or infrastructures hosted in the network.
The Fujitsu Zero Client Model combines the advantages and user experience of a desktop PC with the cost and efficiency benefits of a terminal-based solution. The Fujitsu Zero Client is especially suited to organizations which scale up or down quickly or host sensitive data.
In particular, organizations such as government agencies, financial institutions, insurance companies, authorities or call centers, will profit from significant cost savings and reduced downtimes with the configuration-free Fujitsu Zero Client. The device is ready in an instant and offers end users direct access to their virtual desktops. Data can be accessed from any machine within the infrastructure. Downtimes are minimized as damaged virtual machines can be restored from the backup within just a few minutes.
