New Delhi: Facebook is all set to roll out a revamped photo viewer over the coming few weeks. The images will be displayed as a light-box like pop-up. The new viewer will also make comments viewing and sharing simpler, says the company.
In the new version of the photo viewer the user can stay on the same page while viewing a photo. The new version also supports keyboard shortcuts to skip and move around the gallery or do the same by the mouse based navigation with the help of thumbnails. The right and left arrow keys on the keyboard will be used to scroll through the album and the escape key to close the viewer.
More than 100 million photos are uploaded to the site every day, says Facebook, and according to it, the re-designed photo viewer will increase photo views by 5 percent. Since the older viewer supported by some of the oldest code in the system, it was in need of an upgrade.
The plan for the new photo viewer was first announced by Facebook back in September last year, when it started support for the uploading and hosting of high resolution images.
