Dell launches smallest PC with desktop chips
Bangalore: Dell has launched Optiplex 780 USFF (Ultra Small Form Factor), which is the smallest system to use primarily desktop components. The computer is 9.4 by 9.4 inches and only uses a 2.5-inch hard drive, and uses desktop processors up to a 3.33GHz Core 2 Duo, according to electronista. Besides the newer design, the Optiplex 380 has been given a low-profile update that adds a new chipset with support for more processors up to the Core 2 Quad. A base configuration starts at $624 and comes with a 2.2GHz Celeron, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive running Windows 7 and Intel GMA 4500 video but also three years of on-site help. Actual pricing remains the same at the existing $329 to $349 range depending on the choice of a desktop, mini tower or small form factor box.
