Compellent to launch 900GB 2.5 inch disk drives

Bangalore: Compellent has announced plans to bring out 2.5 inch drives with capacity of 900GB which would spin at 10,000RPM and another 2.5 inch drive with 300GB capacity is coming at 15,000RPM, reports Chris Mellor of The Register. The C-Drive conference was told that, this would be the fastest small form factor disk drive available. C-Drive conference had booths of both STEC and Seagate and the Drive manufacturers weren't mentioned. Compellent supplies, 3.5 inch STEC solid state drive with fibre channel connectivity, which has a storage capacity of 146GB and plans to add a 2.5 inch SAS-connected one with an additional 100GB capacity. STEC would have 2-bit MLC products available, once the multi-level cell capability would also arrive.
