Bosch may provide security systems for Commonwealth Games
Bangalore: The preparation of Commonwealth Games is in high spirits in the national capital, and to protect this game from any security mishaps, the government has pitched with Bosch Security Systems to supply security systems for the games. The company did not disclose the details of the order. According to the company, following the Mumbai terror attacks in November last year, the demand of security systems has increased drastically in the country and many new players have entered the market. Dhiraj Wali, Vice President, Bosch Security Systems said, "Traditionally, India has been very low in using security systems, but in the last few years, it has grown rapidly. Growth rate in the U.S. or Europe is only in single digits and in Asia Pacific, the growth rate has been in double digits. In India, the demand for the security systems has increased both from the public and private sectors." Bosch Security Systems, India, a subsidiary of German manufacturing firm Robert Bosch, has been providing security system for both metro rails (Delhi and Kolkota) in the country. It also provides security system to Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, Mumbai, National Gallery of Modern Art, power plants and petro chemicals across the country. In Bangalore, it has installed surveillance camera at 160 traffic junctions in the last one and half years. The company is also expecting more orders from real estate developers with the government planning safety legislation before buildings can be occupied. In year 2008, Bosch Security Systems has generated revenue of 100 crore from India and despite slowdown, expects to achieve the same target this year also. Vali said, "In the first two quarters of current year, we could not generate expected revenue, but expecting to catch up in the fourth quarter (September - December 2009)." In the second quarter ended June 30, 2009, Bosch reported a decline of 14.31 percent in the net profit. During the quarter, the company was at 1.882 billion as compared to 2.197 billion for the quarter ended June 30, 2008. In the same period, total income of the company was at 13.113 billion, a decline of 1.82 percent over the prior year period.
