Bangalore: Bing, Microsoft's new search engine has increased its share of the U.S. internet search by another one percent in July, according to analysis conducted by web analytics firm StatCounter. Bing had 9.41 percent of U.S. market in July, up from 8.23 percent in June, whereas Google's share slipped to 77.54 percent in July from 78.48 percent.
This growth of Bing in U.S. market took its combined share with new search partner Yahoo to 20.36 percent. Microsoft and Yahoo announced a 10-year web search deal last week to challenge Google. Both the companies have planned to use Bing to power search queries on Yahoo's sites, with Yahoo's sales force taking responsibility for selling premium search ads to big buyers for both companies. StatCounter stated, "Bing continues to make slow but steady progress, but the combined Yahoo figures suggest that the deal announced last week will have to demonstrate major future synergies if it is to make any dent in Google's dominance."
According to StatCounter analysis, worldwide is the place where the two companies face an even bigger challenge in the search market. In July, Microsoft and Yahoo combined had just 8.77 percent of the global search market, down from 8.45 percent in June. On the other hand, Google still dominates the search market globally with 89.23 percent in July (slightly down from 89.8 percent in June).
