Beijing: The map functions of the U.S. based Apple iPhone4, which was launched in China on 25th Sept.show Arunachal Pradesh as part of Chinese territory. This mapping application on the iPhone4, seems to be clearly chiseled by the Chinese government. People have been moving to the brand new Apple store, since iPhone4 was launched last week. The users of this iPhones find the equipment to be VPN-proof in China and outside China it automatically shows the proper international version, which everyone gets to see. Apart from this, the map application always shows China's borders as the Chinese government wants to have them, whether VPN is used or not. The iPhone took anywhere to U.S. or Europe, it will show the same crippled map. There is no other alternate that can change these settings. It was soon discovered that these iPhone4's base map is hard-wired with Google map's censored database for china where the depiction of China's borders complies with the official propaganda of the Chinese government. The users of iPhone4 are frustrated and angry, as the map application shows every name board of cities in Chinese language. Without having English language, these phone's have rather become useless. It's not the first time Apple has changed its products to please Beijing as Chinese iPhones previously had their wifi capabilities disabled. Nor is it even the only country Apple will bend over backwards for. This matter makes the case clear that"Apple and Google just want to comply with local Chinese law" even though the legality of Google's mapping service in China is even now in question, as it still needs to comply successfully with a new Chinese law that requires a license to publish online maps in China. Bloggers advised their readers to replace iPhone's map icon with maps.google.com or simply use Google Earth in order to view reliable maps. However, This matter has reflected pretty poorly on everyone involved.
