Bangalore: Apple has apparently started producing an 8 Giga byte (GB) iPhone 4, sources close to the company revealed. A Korean company is manufacturing the flash drive for the 8GB iPhone4. Apple with a high standard of secrecy and security has, however, declined to comment. The existing iPhone4 with its 16GB and 32GB versions was launched in June 2010. The 8GB version will be released in few weeks, the sources said. Analysts feel the 8GB version could boost Apple sales in emerging markets by switching from high-end feature phones, which usually cost $150-200$, to low-end and middle-end phones. However, the analysts also opined that Apple will have to come up with a still lower specification to really impact the markets as the price of 8GB would hardly go below 200$. Meanwhile Apple's Chief Operating Officer, Tim Cook hinted that Apple is reluctant to cede to any market and he did not want Apple products to be just for the rich. Apart from introducing its lower specification 8GB iPhone 4, Apple is also planning to launch the next generation iPhone 5 by the end of September, one of the sources disclosed. The new iPhone 5 also called the iPhone 4S by some, due to its largely identical appearance to the existing iPhone4, will have a bigger touch screen, better antenna and an 8-mega-pixel camera. Apple also instructed two manufacturers of its iPhone 5 to prepare production capacity for 45 million units and the phone will be made by Hon Hai and Pegatron, the source added.
