Apple Killed Mobile Flash: Adobe

Bangalore: It's not Adobe that should be given the credit for bringing the fact into light that flash on the phone is flawed, unsteady and unlikable experience. Actually it is the iOS rejection that murdered Flash said Adobe. Mike Chambers, Flash engineer provided a thorough analysis of mobile Flash and spoke about its downfall through his blog. "Given the fragmentation of the mobile market, and the fact that one of the leading mobile platforms (Apple's iOS) was not going to allow the Flash Player in the browser, the Flash Player was not on track to reach anywhere near the ubiquity of the Flash Player on desktops." Apple's rejection of mobile Flash is what killed Flash. It's tough to make a comeback when you are already turned down by tech worlds beloved. Chambers feel "The mobile Flash Player was not going to achieve the same ubiquity on mobile as it has on the desktop." It's not only Apple's resistance that forced Adobe to take such decision, there were other factors too. Firstly, supporting iOS, the Flash developers have to create HTML5 version of the same content and the second bug was fragmentation. Adobe has to work really hard to get the Flash working properly and the hard work will involve working with multiple OS vendors, chip makers and device manufacturers. Chamber says, "This kind of work simply not scalable or sustainable."
