Apple iOS 4.2 lets users locate and lock missing devices
San Francisco: Apple has released the latest version of its mobile operating system called the iOS 4.2. The uniqueness of the iOS 4.2 is that users can locate and lock missing devices. Other features include multitasking and folders for organizing applications. Apple aims to cash on in the holiday sales with its new operating system. The software also includes a feature to wirelessly print from Apple's mobile devices through a Wi-Fi network. Steve Jobs, CEO, Apple said, "iOS 4.2 makes the iPad a completely new product, just in time for the holiday season." The newest feature introduced in the operating system is called Find My iPhone and can be downloaded for free from the App Store. The feature allows people to trace the iPhones, iPads and iPod Touches on a map and play a sound when lost. They can remotely lock the devices as well. This feature was earlier available as part of Apple's $99-a-year MobileMe subscription. You can download the new iOS 4.2 from Apple's iTunes. Among the updates include addition of a Game Center to the iPad that allows gamers post scores to leader boards or challenge other owners of Apple mobile devices. The feature is already available on the iPhone and iPod Touch.
