Seoul: LG recently said that, it had scrapped the plan to launch a tablet computer based on Google's Android 2.2 operation system known as "Froyo". The decision to rollout its first tablet PC slate may delay for the next quarter. The decision of "Froyo" could mark another setback for the South Korean company, which is seeking to bolster its loss-making handset division with attractive new devices. An LG official said, "We are planning to introduce a tablet that runs on the most consistent Android version, and are already in talks with the Google to decide on the most suitable version for our tablet and that is not Froyo 2.2". LG officials further said that 'they are yet to decide the timing for its tablet to launch'. The world's third largest mobile phone maker recently introduced the Optimus One smartphone in Korea before launching its global sales through 120 carriers with a sales target of 10 million units. Its smartphones are yet to reach the 1 million unit sales and LG is betting on strong demand for Android-based smartphones to help to put it firmly back on the recovery path.
