AMI launches mobile apps group in India

Chennai: Do you often feel challenged while downloading mobile applications because of device incompatibility? Well, your woes may soon come to an end. Virtual Mobile Interface (VMI) a prototype developed by America Megatrends (AMI) will be able to remove the thin layer that separates smart phones from becoming independent of the manufacturer and help mobile applications to co-exist with PC applications.
VMI is just one of the many enterprise solutions that AMI will develop with the newly Mobile Applications Group (MAG) within its current portfolio of specializing in PC hardware and firmware. The new division will continue to support the company's relationship with Original Device Manufacturers (ODM) and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) with customized solutions to keep up with the current buzz in the Android and Windows Mobile platforms. MAG will work towards providing server based services to focus on Mobile and Internet solutions, particularly for the convergence of mobile with PC/Netbook. AMI India's solution will see the convergence of Android based Smart Phones and the Netbook and Handheld Solutions.
"The initiative was established with an aim to empower AMI India to cater to the clients and customers spread across the APAC region. Our professionals in India will play critical role in developing world-class solution and products, which will be required to excel in internet appliances," said Sanjoy Mati, VP-Software Engineering, AMI.
Talking about the role of MAG, Sridharan Mani, Director & CEO, AMI (India), released Daak, the first customized email solution for enterprise segment. An all in one email application for Microsoft Exchange 2003/2007, Daak will enable users to access official mails, send and receive attachments and give hassle free access to appointments and contacts and more.
"The total number of wireless subscribers in India is estimated to reach 876.6 million by the end of 2013 at 50 percent growth on average, making it the fastest growing market. This highlights the vast opportunity AMI can look forward to with the launch of MAG," said Maty. After working with OEM/ODMs this year, the company plans to work on enterprise applications next year and venture into cloud computing by 2011.
