Aircel launches mobile app store with Infosys
Bangalore: Aircel, one of the telecom operators in India, has entered an agreement with Infosys Technologies to launch mobile application store in the country. Infosys, the second largest software exporter by revenue, will implement its new platform called FLYPP for the Aircel store. Launched in December, FLYPP can be used by mobile operators to offer a wide range of applications. Infosys Chief Operating Officer SD Shibulal expressed that the company is also in talks with other players in the sector for the platform, according to TopNews.in. Competitive market has forced many operators to do innovative things to get an edge. Now, there are new applications which are being offered on the mobile handsets, such as such as navigation maps, downloadable videos, games and music. Aircel COO Gurdeep Singh said, "The application store will provide consumers greater choice for applications related to health, finance, and entertainment." Aircel is a unit of Malaysia's Maxis.
