Tharoor has experienced the blow through twitter when Lalit Modi, tweeted about Shashi tharoor's profit oriented stake in an Indian cricket club (Kochi tuskers) via his proxy and consequently both the bigwigs lost their jobs. Tharoor was forced to resign and a witch hunt started for Modi who is now absconding.
Shashi Tharoor, a member of Parliament (LokSabha), Thiruvananthapuram has followers of 1,128,044. When he got onto Twitter and started tweeting regularly to an ever increasing number of followers, the number of his followers crossed one lakh at very short span of time.
