Noida: Noida-based CanvasM Technologies, Tech Mahindra's VAS subsidiary, partnered with NGO Rashtriya Rozgar Mission to launch Saral Rozgar. It is a service, which intends to connect Blue-collared workers including part time, industrial workers, daily and weekly wage earners, through mobile and online mediums, mainly targeting the informal sector. A part of $11.1 billion dollar Mahindra Group, CanvasM focuses on developing and deploying utility VAS solutions, applications and platforms for organizations globally. At the time of launch, the service already has a database of 25,000 job seekers and 500 employers, with more than 4,000 jobs on board across 100 categories, among which 200 vacancies are from within the Mahindra Group companies. With plans to expand its service to all the regions of India by the end of the year, currently the service is launched in the Delhi-NCR region; however, migrant workers can still access the service if they seek jobs in the region. The thought behind the service is to take advantage of the huge penetration of mobile services across the population and provide internet like services to the section, which does not have means or literacy to access internet for their advantage. It provides user-friendly options like search, discovery and a virtual market place. Saral Rozgar won an award for 'Excellence in Innovation with Rural Telecom Focus' at the 5th National Telecom Awards 2011 held on the occasion of World Telecom Day on May 17, 2011 at Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi. The Blue-collared job seekers will be able to create resumes and apply for jobs through their mobile handsets over a simple voice call to the helpline number 1860 180 1100, and the potential job providers will have access to this data base enabling them to reach out to the job seekers directly through automated channels such as SMS or a voice call. An executive personally will be filing the details online. The employers can register free on Saral Rozgar's website and search for prospective employees form the site's database and can call the shortlisted job seekers through the site. On being shortlisted, the candidate receives a call and seek consent to connect then to the employer who has made the offer. NGOs, Direct Selling Agents and retail outlets of the Mahindra group will also register job seekers apart from the helpline of the site. Till July, the service is offered free, but later on it will be chargeable at 30 per month for the job seekers and 5 per call-out for employers. Calls to the helpline are also chargeable at local call rates. Jagdish Mitra, CEO, CanvasM Technologies, said that the initial offering on this medium is targeted at providing much needed organized market place for the employment of Blue-collared workforce. It has a unique platform for both organized and unorganized sector to save cost, effort and enable a faster turnaround time for reaching out to the potential job seekers.
