Lee Kun-hee, chairman of Samsung Electronics who has a fortune of 12.6 billion was charged with tax evasion cases in the year 2009. Being one of the richest personalities, Lee Kun-hee retired as the chairman in 2008 and came back again in 2010. Though he had paid the taxes of $130 million in the previous year, in the preceding year, Kun-hee became another example of a tycoon getting off easy.

3. Silvio Berlusconi

Silvio Berlusconi is an Italian entrepreneur, media tycoon and politician who served four times as Prime Minister of Italy. In 2013, with the net worth of U.S. $6.2 billion, Forbes ranked him as one of the richest man in the world.

In 2013, he was found guilty on the basis of tax-evasion and was sentenced to four years imprisonment along with a public office ban for two years. As Berlusconi was a 70 years man he was exempted from direct imprisonment, and instead he was asked to serve his sentence by doing unpaid social community work.
