Tata's arm to recruit 5000 employees

New Delhi: Tata group subsidiary, Tata Business Support Systems (TBSS) plans to expand the work force in the rural BPOs to give call center support to the group companies.
At present, TBSS caters to the various companies like Tata Indicom, Tata Sky and Virgin mobiles by providing back-end support including call centers and centralized accountings."Gradually, in the next five years, the total number of people employed in these rural call centers would go to five thousand," says R Gopalakrishnan, Tata Chemicals Vice-President and Tata Sons Executive Director.
Boosting the rural BPO sector, as a pilot project the Tata arm sets up one BPO in Mithapur, Gujarat in the vicinity of Tata Chemicals' manufacturing unit. It also has plans to explore the other parts of India where the other manufacturing units of the group companies are located.
