Tata introduces new Ethernet services

Mumbai: Tata Communications, a communication service provider, has made two new services available, the Dedicated Point to Multipoint Ethernet and Dedicated Multipoint Ethernet, as a part of its WAN Ethernet services. It will be offered in major business hubs in Asia, North America, Europe, Africa, and soon, the Middle East.
Dedicated Point to Multipoint Ethernet delivers a hub and spoke network model for transmitting content between a central location, such as a corporate headquarters or data processing center, and satellite locations. While Dedicated Multipoint service allows customers to deploy any-to-any network topology to create a global Ethernet WAN. These Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) 9 and MEF 14 certified services provide features like MAC address forwarding, private networks for each customer and customer-premise to customer-premise SLAs. The Ethernet forum is an alliance of 120 organizations, hence, its approval imply conforming international standards.
According to Ovum RHK, the enterprise Ethernet services market in Asia-Pacific reached $5.5 billion in 2006 and will grow at a 12 percent CAGR to reach $10.9 billion by 2012.
