Symantec Launches Academic Program with IIHT

Bangalore: Symantec (Nasdaq: SYMC), a provider of security, storage and systems management solutions, has launched an academic program in partnership with IIHT. The Symantec Academic Program will enhance the education offerings already available for businesses in India by making Symantec training solutions available to college pass outs and people looking at career transformation. The curriculum will provide students with in-depth knowledge and certification on Symantec solutions as well as related IT best practices. 
The program being offered through Symantec Education Services enables one to enroll for short and long term certificate and diploma courses, ranging from three months to three years. A typical curriculum covers VERITAS Storage Foundation, VERITAS NetBackup Administration I & II, Symantec Endpoint Protection, Symantec Control Compliance Suite and Symantec Security Information Manager.
Discussing about the program, Vishal Dhupar, MD, Symantec India, said, "The appointment of IIHT in India demonstrates our commitment to help both academia and businesses in India get the most from their investment in Symantec software and their IT functions. The students who attend the Academic Program have an option to sit for formal exams as part of the Symantec Certification Program and upon successful completion of the exams they will be recognized as a 'Symantec Certified Professional'. This will add validity and recognition to their new IT skills and increase their marketability in the competitive job-hunting environment in India.
