Symantec appoints Enrique T. Salem as COO

Bnagalore: Symantec, a global provider of infrastructure software headquartered in the U.S., has announced the appointment of Enrique T. Salem as its Chief Operating Officer.
In his new role, Salem will be responsible for product development, sales, services, marketing and information technology activities and directly report to Symantec chairman and CEO John W. Thompson. He is tasked with driving operational consistency across the business. 
Salem earlier served as Group President of Symantec worldwide sales and marketing. Salem has two decades of experience in sales, product delivery and operations. 
Before joining Symantec, Salem was with Brightmail, which was acquired by Symantec in 2004. In another announcement, Gregory W. Hughes, who most recently served as the Group President of Symantec Global Services, was named Chief Strategy Officer with the responsibility for corporate development and strategy. 
Symantec also appointed J David Thompson as the Group President, Information and Services group. He will report to Salem.
