Stripped off to Controversy, Veena says: 'Not Nude, but Topless'
Pakistani spy agency ISI (Inter Service Intelligence) is blamed for its alleged involvement in many terror strikes in the country including 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Kabeer Sharma said the concept of ISI had been taken as a satirical remark on India’s obsession with it. The cover page has a tag line, "Hand in the end of the world too?" and it arrows to the ISI tattoo. The coverage page denotes her as Pakistani WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction).
In the midst of allegations, FHM has refused the accusations she made. Kabeer Sahrma published the series of photos from the photo-shoot by declaring they did not do any photoshop or morph on the images. Sharma claimed that to prove the legitimacy, FHM India has video of the photo shoot and emails from Malik.
Meanwhile, Pakistan lawyer, Salimullah Khan’s petition was rejected by the Islamabad High Court on December 08, which asked the court to direct authorities to take charge against Veena as she appealed obscene and nude in the FHM Magazine’s cover page. The petition asked the Court to take charges under the provisions of Pakistan Penal Code for obscene acts, sedition, defamation and wearing clothes and using equipment used by Pakistani military personnel. Court has rejected taking action on the issue as it happened out of the Pakistan territory.
As the news broke out, Veena’s father, Malik Mohammad Aslam commented on her controversial appeal on the men’s magazine and said she should be punished so that no other women would think of such kind of appearance in any media. He claimed that after the gossip got over, Veena should promise that she won’t return to India anytime.
Many see Veena as just another example of Pakistani youths’ urge to come out of the religious convention. There is a growing sense of feel in the country that the culture and morality they follow is too rigid and old and it’s high to break the barriers. The wave of modernism where women have freedom of expression is thrashing in the inner souls of Pakistan.
