Vijay Mani co-founded ZumoDrive raises $1.5 Million

Bangalore: File syncing and storage startup ZumoDrive has raised $1.5 million in funding, which is led by Sherpalo Ventures along with the previous investors - Tandem Entrepreneurs and VeriFone CEO Douglas Bergeron participating. As reported by the VatorNews, the Burlingame, California-based startup said the new funding would be used in product development and building channel relationships to more widely distribute ZumoDrive.
ZumoDrive claims that it helps its users to save space on their mobile device. Instead of having the iPhone's hard drive filled with multimedia, the user can use ZumoDrive to access this entire media from the cloud. It lets users to access their music playlists, photo albums and document folders on any device. The company claims that with HybridCloud storage solution, it allows users to bring all their music, photos, videos, and documents with them even on mobile devices that are limited in capacity. ZumoDrive offers a gigabyte of storage free of charge and then several other plans starting at $2.99/month for 10GB all the way up to $79.99 for 500GB.
ZumoDrive was created by the Silicon Valley based company Zecter, which was founded by David Zhao and Kevin West in 2007. The third founding member of the team is Vijay Mani, who is also a former Microsoft employee.
"ZumoDrive has a rapidly growing user base that is already generating strong revenue, so this funding is simply a boost that will drive additional improvements in the product to make this the best solution for users," said Ram Shriram, Founder of Sherpalo Ventures LLC in a statement. "As consumers continue to purchase additional mobile and portable devices, ZumoDrive is poised to be a key player in helping them access content seamlessly from any device."
