Mention basketball, and the first name that crosses your mind is Michael Jordan, who is acclaimed to be the greatest basketball player of all times. He is said to have a big hand in marketing athletes and popularizing NBA in the world. His leaping ability earned him the name "Air Jordan", and he has been named the greatest North American athlete oh the 20th century by ESPN. Jordan fuelled the success of Nike's Air Jordan sneakers and has even starred in the movie "Space Jam". He has been a major spokesman for big brands like Nike, Coca-Cola, Chevrolet, McDonald's and many more. He has been ranked by the Forbes magazine as "The 20th most powerful person in the world", in 2010. After retirement, he kept himself busy by promoting his Jordan Brand of clothing line, and riding motorcycles--he owns the Michael Jordon Motorsports, as professional closed-course motorcycle road racing team. In 2006, he bought a minority stake in the Charlotte Bobcats, and was names the "Managing Member of Basketball Operations", with full control over the basketball side. On March 17, 2010, he and his group MJ Basketball Holdings became the majority owner in the Bobcats.
