Shah Rukh Khan acquires stake in KidZania
Mumbai: Shah Rukh Khan has acquired 26 percent stake in the Indian franchise of KidZania, which is an international chain of family entertainment centres. Altamount Capital Management was the advisor to the deal, reports Economic Times. Comcraft Group, which has a corpus of $3.5 billion holds the franchise for KidZania in India, had been exploring for a significant minority investor to add value to the Indian project and decided to bring Shah Rukh Khan on board. The Comcraft Group is owned by NRI Chandaria family, who have diverse interests in about 40 countries across the globe. KidZania, a Mexico-based company, is an interactive family entertainment centre or indoor park that allows children between 5-13 years to role-play adult occupations in a miniature city. KidZania will start functioning in India in 2012 at R City Mall in Ghatkopar, Mumbai and will be spread over more than 70,000 square feet. More similar edutainment centres are likely to be opened later in Delhi and Bangalore. The Runwal Group of R City Mall, has a lease agreement for up to nine years with KidZania.
