Bangalore: YouSendIt, a provider of digital content delivery services, has raised $15 million in the fourth round of funding, led by the new investor Adams Street Partners. Existing ventures, Emergence Capital, Sigma Partners, and Alloy Ventures were also participated in the round. Earlier, in 2008 the company has raised $14 million in the third round. To date, the Campbell based company has raised over $53 million.
YouSendIt, founded by Ranjith Kumaran in 2007, will use the funding to accelerate growth and increase market share. YouSendIt's core product allows users to easily send and receive files and folders as large as 2 gigabytes in size (rather than send the file itself via email, send a link to the file that is hosted on YouSendIt's servers). Users can access the service through the YouSendIt Web site, a desktop application called YouSendIt Express or through the different plug-ins that integrate with popular business applications like Microsoft Office or Adobe Photoshop.
Ranjith Kumaran, Founder and Chief Technology Officer, YouSendIt, said that the site has over 215,000 paid users, all of whom are subscribed to plans that run $9.99 per month and higher. He claimed that their service continues to grow, with 300,000 new registered users a month.
Kumaran also said that the company is seeing success in the enterprise, which YouSendIt has worked toward with features like Outlook integration and various certifications. The company is looking at using some of the money for acquisitions, in addition to using it to boost growth and market share.
