Lessons I Learnt From My First Venture
Ambareesh Murty, Founder & CEO, Pepperfry
“My first venture was back in December 2003 when I set up a training and advisory firm called Origin Resources. I was the sole proprietor and in the 2-3 years running Origin, what I think I realized most was the importance of good people to work with and the value of timely decision making.”
Coming from a middle class background, Murty was always cautious about the downside as opposed to driving growth. “I have since realized that the biggest risk lies in taking the entrepreneurial leap and once that is done, there is no point being conservative. It’s a lesson well learnt and hopefully will be well applied in my new venture.”
He feels that there are many memories from his first experience, which would be similar to many others who have tried to make it as an entrepreneur, like giving up large cars or houses, withdrawing cash on credit cards to get salaries paid on time and working in an office where every piece of furniture was foldable J.
Ambareesh Murthy is the Founder & CEO of e-commerce company Pepperfry. Prior to this, he had founded Origin Resources, a training and advisory firm.
