Noida: iProf Learning Solutions, Noida-based e-learning solutions provider, has raised $1.1 million from U.S.-based Kaplan Ventures, reports VCCircle. The investment made by Kaplan is a part of the recent venture capital round that the company raised from Norwest Venture Partners and IDG Ventures India.
iProf has raised a total of $6 million from the three investors. The company owns and operates a chain of Wi-Fi-enabled e-learning centers across India for IIT, CAT, PMT and other high-stake tests. With the current partnership with Kaplan, iProf will offer coaching for GRE and GMAT to Indian students. The students of the institute uses tablet PCs to download latest course materials, get relevant updates, interact with the faculty on board and clear their doubts through live video conferences.
The Founder and CEO of iProf, Sanjay Purohit, said that the investment will be used in expanding iProf activities nationwide. Collaborating with Kalpan will provide their franchisees to sell more courses without hiring additional faculty by making their business more profitable. iProf has developed educational tablets and sold more than 1,000 devices. With the recent 3G expansion in India, the firm is making its tablets 3G affordable.
A new tablet, Mi-Fi, which is another version of education solution provider, will be released soon by iProf. Mi-Fi, almost the size of a cigarette box, will bring together 3G and Wi-Fi, thus acting as a temporary education facility almost anywhere, says Purohit.
