iProf learning solution raised 22 Crore from Norwest Venture Partners

Bangalore: Noida based iProf Learning Solutions India, an e-learning company ,maker of personal education tablet and an operator of a chain of Wi-Fi-enabled e-learning centers across the nation, has raised 22 crore in Series A funding from Norwest Venture Partners (NVP) and IDG Ventures India (IDGVI), reports VCCIRCLE. Mohan Kumar, Executive Director, NVP India, and Sudhir Sethi, Founder, Chairman & Managing Director, IDGVI will join iProf as Board of Directors. The capital will be used to expand the iProf's learning centers in metros and in the education market. By the end of 2011 the company is planning to increase the number of iStudy zones to 100. With iProf, students will be able to download education content from e-learning hotspot called iStudy zones. The model of iProf is linked with Android based tablet through which it can provide course modules for entrance exam preparation. Presently it features engineering entrance exam preparation module from Brilliant Tutorials, Kaysons Education and Future Vista, Class X ICSE study modules from Sinhal Classes and English speaking courses from Words Worth. The launched price of the tablet iProf was 14,900 which has been reduced to 8,900. But there will be additional price for different course materials. Sequoia Capital India and Song Investment Advisors India, invested $15 million in K-12 Education Centre. Mayfield Fund has invested $8 million in Centum Learning. e- Learning players have increased and many of them have invested in education tablet market. Some of the tablets are IL&FS' Xperica app for the iPad, and recently Edutor Technologies also launched a tablet.
